Privacy Policy

What Beatbus is
Beatbus is a browser-based video calling service. You create calls, invite people via a link, and talk. We don't record calls, generate transcripts, or store call content.
What we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password. You also set a display name — the name that appears to people you call. This information is stored securely using AWS Cognito.
Contacts
If you add people to your contact list, we store their name and email address so you can easily invite them to calls. You can delete contacts at any time.
Call metadata
We store basic information about your calls: when they started, when they ended, how many people participated, and how many minutes were used. We do not record or store any audio, video, or screen share content from your calls.
Billing information
When you purchase minutes, your payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, bank account details, or other payment credentials. Stripe handles all payment data under their own privacy policy. We receive only a transaction confirmation and the number of minutes added to your account.
Usage data
We track your minute balance — how many minutes you have remaining and how they were consumed. This is displayed in your account so you can see what you've used.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not record calls
- We do not store audio, video, or screen share content
- We do not generate or store transcripts
- We do not track your location
- We do not sell your data to third parties
- We do not use your data for advertising
How calls work technically
Video and audio streams are transmitted using Daily.co's infrastructure. During a call, your video and audio data flows through Daily's servers to connect you with other participants. This data is not stored after the call ends — it exists only for the duration of the connection.
Daily.co processes this data under their own privacy policy as a data processor acting on our behalf.
Guest participants
People who join your calls as guests do not need a Beatbus account. They provide only a name (which is not stored after the call ends) and are connected via a temporary link. We do not collect email addresses, passwords, or any personal information from guests beyond what they voluntarily type as their display name during the call.
How we use your information
- To provide the calling service (creating rooms, connecting participants, tracking minutes)
- To send call invitations and reminders to people you invite
- To process your payments through Stripe
- To show you your account information, call history, and minute balance
- To send you important account notifications (password resets, verification emails)
We do not use your information for marketing unless you explicitly opt in.
Third-party services
Beatbus uses the following third-party services to operate:
- AWS (Amazon Web Services) — hosting, authentication (Cognito), database, and backend infrastructure
- Daily.co — real-time video and audio transmission during calls
- Stripe — payment processing for minute purchases
Each of these services has their own privacy policy governing how they handle data. We select services that meet industry-standard security and privacy requirements.
Data retention
Your account information is retained as long as your account is active. Call metadata (start time, end time, duration, participant count) is retained for your call history. If you delete your account, your personal data will be removed within 30 days.
Guest participant names are not permanently stored — they exist only for the duration of the call session.
Your rights
You can:
- View all information we have about you (visible in your account)
- Update your display name and email at any time
- Delete your contacts at any time
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data
To request account deletion or ask questions about your data, contact us at the email below.
Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication is handled by AWS Cognito with industry-standard encryption. Passwords are never stored in plain text. Payment data never touches our servers — it goes directly to Stripe.
Children
Beatbus is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via email or a notice in the application. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
